Our MISSION
a permanent forever home and SAFE HAVEN FOR SHELTER RESCUES
Scarlet Oak Farms is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary operating in Ayden, North Carolina. The foundation of our work rests on a dream that one day animals will no longer be killed in pet shelters. Our focus is on taking some of the shelter's unadoptable hound specific breeds to our sanctuary and provide them with refuge and a place to heal.

our commitment
We are committed to proper care, rehabilitation, and patience to help these animals transition into their forever home here at Scarlet Oak Farms. We do not adopt our rescues out.

Although we are a young organization, we believe collectively we have the experience, savvy, and diversity in talents for Scarlet Oak Farms to grow and flourish.

our difference
ANIMAL SANCTUARY:
A FOREVER HOME
Scarlet Oak Farms, first and foremost, is an animal sanctuary. We are a place where rescued hounds spend the remainder of their lives. We do not adopt or foster our animals. Specifically, our organization focuses on pulling at-risk hound breeds from local shelters and giving them a forever home at our farm.
Another difference, we do not individually kennel, separate, or segregate our animals. Our hounds live in open, heated and cooled, areas with 24/7 access to the outdoors.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
There are so many ways to help! Any contribution made to Scarlet Oak Farms goes directly towards helping animals - both at our sanctuary and through additional outreach and rescue efforts.
"In 2017, our local animal shelter alone took in 1,430 dogs and euthanized 484 or 33% of those intakes. The goal of Scarlet Oak Farms is to help reduce the number of strays or homeless dogs from being euthanized in pet shelters."
